Pink In The Rink with the Rocky Mountain Rage

On Sunday, February 15, 22 girls from various hockey assocations throughout Colorado represented BelaHockey and faced off during the first period intermission at the Rocky Mountain Rage versus Mississippi RiverKings CHL game played at the Broomfield Event Center in Broomfield, Colorado. The "Pink In The Rink" game honored Breast Cancer Awareness and a portion of the proceeds benefitted the Denver affliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The Rocky Mountain Rage players wore special pink ribbon jerseys which were later auctioned as a part of the proceeds. Breast cancer survivors were honored and the pink Bela girls helped to form upper part of the pink ribbon created on the ice.

The players, ages 8-12, were from the following local hockey associations: Colorado Select, Arvada, Boulder Valley, Hyland Hills and the YMCA of Boulder Valley.

Brynn Harrington, from the Colorado Select U8 team, attended the event and cheered on all of the girls from the sideline as an injury prevented her from playing in the on ice scrimmage.

The scrimmage ended with a 1-0 pink win off a goal scored by Ali Peper.

Thanks to all of the girls for coming out, everyone really enjoyed watching you skate! You created special awareness for girls hockey and helped to support breast cancer! Special THANKS to Colorado Select Coach Paul Harrington for all of his help organizing, lacing skates and assisting on-ice. Additionally, BelaHockey would like to thank Hilary McNeish and Jennifer Reifman from the Rocky Mountain Rage.
